My interests are in uninhabited interiors of derelict buildings that bear the scars and decay of time. Going inside an abandoned building can be an emotional experience and one is often overwhelmed with a great sadness at the neglect and uselessness it has become. The floors are often cluttered, filled with debris and the structures ragged, encased in moss. .
The subjects for my paintings are always man made places or man made things: doors, windows, furniture and rooms devoid of any sign of life. When I paint I enjoy working with colour and often exaggerate the subtle tones within the image. The painting becomes a place of imagination, a memory of time and loss.
