| I mainly paint using acrylics on canvas board and many of my paintings have a beach / coastal theme. The beach, seaside, buildings and graphics are a constant source of inspiration as is the sky. I also paint large abstract pictures.
My work is bright and realistic; I like it to jump out at the viewer by capturing extremes of shadow and light.
On completion, I varnish my pictures and have them framed professionally.
I work from collections of my own photographs and drawings and sketch out my picture ideas and compositions. I regularly visit the locations I paint from throughout the year armed with sketch book and camera. My own two daughters are my inspiration and models for many of my beach scenes. As I take digital photos, the pictures are usually already forming in my head and I cant wait to get to my easel.
I am so inspired and full of ideas that there are not enough hours in the day to get it all down on canvas, so there is always a back log of pictures waiting to be created as well as commissions.
I have sold work in local exhibitions, online and from my own studio during West Berkshire Open Studios this year. |
