I am a self-taught artist although I have attended a number of painting courses including short courses at the Slade and other art colleges in London where I exhibited some of my artwork.
I am fascinated by colour and in particular the effects produced by the interaction and juxtaposition of different colours. Cezanne said that colour is "the place where our brain and the universe meet." By using our imagination, we can locate internal visual imagery and create our own perception of the universe.
I work in acrylics and mixed media and the style lies somewhere along that continuum between representation and abstraction. I enjoy the process of paintng and the randomness of throwing or dripping paint on to the canvas. It is part of the artistic challenge of connecting the subjective visual, internal world with the physical act of creating a painting. I work in mixed media and my style is along that continuum between abstraction and representation.
