Cassiopeia, the wife of King Cepheus and mother of Andromeda, was extremely beautiful, but she was also vain & arrogant. She boasted that she & her daughter were more beautiful than the nereids (daughters of the sea God Nereus). Cassiopeias boast so outraged Poseidon that he vented his anger on the kingdom of Ethiopia.
