Saunton Sands beach near where I live in North Devon has 3 miles of uninterupted sandy beach with waves rolling in. Sometimes the tide brings very small pieces of seaweed onto the sand which discolour and darken the sand. From a distance the sand looks much darker than in other places. This felted picture was made as a result of a study I made of  an area of "dark sand"!
