This painting has been done on a lightly textured preparation of gesso, using sand. The main flowers have been lightly modelled with gesso, to provide a low-relief effect, before being painted. Gold paint has been worked over most of the background areas, which have been painted a deep green-blue; this gives a goldleaf effect in some sections, but allows a green diffusion of colour to come through when the painting is seen at different angles. Complementary colour is provided by the vibrant red-orange poppies. Price includes UK delivery.
