FAQ for artists
How do I join The Artist Studio?
It's easy to join, artists click here to register, start with Studio 3 Free membership, upload up to 5 images (examples of your artworks), a short paragraph about you and your art, we will review your submission and contact you within 5 working days to confirm your membership, if you would like to join at a higher level choose Studio 3 Free option when you register, wait until we have enabled your gallery & then contact us to let us know your preferred portfolio package
What do I need in order to join?
All you need are your contact details, up to 5 .jpg or .gif images of good quality, (please ensure each image is resized to no more than 800px wide or 800px high, whichever is the greatest), and a short paragraph about you and your art. Once you've joined you need to have a minimum of one or two artworks in your gallery for it to remain online
How do I pay for membership?
Let us know which membership level you would like, accepted payments are by credit or debit card via paypal (let us know if you would like to pay by paypal & we will send you an invoice) or cheque made payable to Riverart please & send your payment to us at the address on the contact page
Do you accept International artists?
The majority of artists on the site are from the UK but we are considering a few applications from self-representing artists who are resident in Europe EU & USA, we only have a few places available for artists who are not resident in the UK, International artists must accept payments via paypal
Do you accept all submissions?
We will accept most submissions, we will let you know the reason if you haven't been successful this time
How do I create a gallery room?
To create a gallery room (page for your art) login via Artist Login, in your admin area go to Gallery Rooms & Art, click on Create a new gallery room
How do I add an artwork?
To add a new artwork login via Artist Login, go to Gallery Rooms & Art, click on Add a new artwork
What size/resolution of photos do I need?
Good quality images minimum of approx. 400 to 600 pixels shortest side
How do I add images for my art?
To add images for a new artwork, go to Gallery Rooms & Art, click on Add a new artwork, add your text, then on the Artwork Images page browse to a jpg or gif photo on your computer & click on Add, the box marked default next to your main image must be ticked for your image(s) to appear, you can add more images of the same artwork such as close-ups, framed, side view or in situ just browse to another photo & click on Add
Can you add my artworks to the website for me?
Yes certainly, send us your photos, artwork sizes, and descriptions and we'll do the rest
Can I upgrade my subscription?
Yes, let us know the package you'd like
Can I cancel my subscription at any time and receive a refund?
Yes certainly you can, you will receive a refund for the unused part of your yearly membership cost, the refund will be paid by the payment method that you used to pay for your membership either via Paypal or cheque
How do I enable Paypal?
Via your artist admin page, you just need to add your Paypal email address (the email address that customers send your payments to) to your profile page, to register for an account at Paypal visit www.paypal.co.uk/uk
Can I submit any art for inclusion onto the site?
A few images may be rejected for the following reasons : inappropriate (i.e. violent or explicit) images, very poor image quality
Why aren't my images showing?
After you've uploaded your images tick the default box to choose your main image, if your images do not appear it could be that they are too large try resizing them to no more than 800px wide or 800px high, whichever is the greatest, if they still don't upload contact us for help, you can download free image editing software to crop and resize your images here: Picasa My artworks are not appearing correctly?
Please use letters and numbers only in your artwork titles as some characters cannot be used in the urls (web page address) avoid using the following: # & ' ? (hash, and, apostrophe, question mark)
I can't login?
Make sureyou have clicked on Artist Login not Login as this is just for buyers, if you continue to have problems contact us
I want to include delivery in the selling price how do I do this?
You can either add your delivery country such as Mainland UK and put Free in the text box or state in your description that delivery is included in the price, if your P&P cost isn't added for each artwork your art can still be purchased but the P&P cost will not be charged
How do I change my intro page text?
Go to Edit profile & intro page in your admin area, change your text in the about your art box, click on submit
How do I change my intro page and artist A-Z images?
Go to Edit profile & intro page in your admin area, browse to image No.1 for your A-Z image, and No.'s 2 - 5 for your intro page images, then click on submit
Where do I put my terms for buyers ?
Your terms including your delivery times, which payment methods you accept & any other info can be included on your intro page - go to Edit profile & intro page in your admin area, add your terms in the about your art box and click on submit What happens when I make a sale ?
You and your buyer will receive an invoice, this gives you the contact details of your buyer and the status of the payment, if you have enabled your paypal shopping basket and your buyer has chosen to pay via paypal then you will also receive a payment sent email from paypal, if your buyer has chosen the buy offline option then the invoice will state that the payment is pending, you should then contact your buyer to arrange for payment to be sent to you and let your buyer know when the artwork will be sent
FAQ for art buyers

How do I purchase art?
Click here to create an account, you can then buy art and view your history of art purchased in your account area, you will be sent an email to confirm your account has been created.
The artworks are labeled according to availability, art labeled 'buy now' can be purchased securely online by credit or debit card via PayPal (secure payments system) or by offline payment methods such as cheque or postal order, just click on the buy now buttons and follow the instructions to purchase, you will receive an email with your purchase details.
Can I pay for the art by offline payment methods?
Yes certainly, when you click on the buy now button you can choose whether you want to buy art by credit or debit card via paypal or by an offline payment method, you will be sent an email with your order details and the email address of the artist, you will be contacted by the artist or you can email the artist for their details to send the payment by cheque or postal order
Do all the artists accept payments by credit card via paypal?
The majority of artists have their paypal shopping cart enabled, please contact the individual artist if you require any info on which payment methods they accept
When will my artwork be delivered?
Artworks are sent by royal mail or courier, direct from the artists, dispatch is normally within 2 - 10 days, you will receive an email with your order details when you have made a purchase with the contact details of the artist, please email the artist if you need to any info about dispatch or delivery dates
Do you ship art internationally?
Most artists will deliver your purchases to International destinations, see the artists gallery or contact the artist via their contact form if you have any queries about shipping destinations
How do I make an offer for an artwork?
Click on send an offer, on the artists contact page please include which piece you are interested in & the amount of the offer, the message will be sent directly to the artist who will let you know if your offer for the artwork is accepted
How do I commission art?
If you would like to commission an artwork contact the artist direct who will be pleased to discuss your requirements, some artworks are labelled available by commission you could have a similar piece completed, or talk to the artist about creating art to your own specifications
How do I add an artist to my favourite artists?
Click here to create an account, then browse the artists galleries and click Add to my favourite artists, the artists name will then appear in your favourite artists list in your account
Can I return the artwork if I decide it not quite what I was looking for?
Yes certainly, please let the artist know as soon as you can, you have 14 days to return the art to the artist for an exchange or a refund, please return using an insured service (sorry refunds don't include P&P costs, unless the artwork has been damaged in transit if that is the case you will receive a refund in full including all P&P costs, see buyer terms) Can I collect my artwork?
If you live locally to an artist you may be able to collect your art, please contact the artist to make an appointment for collection
Can I view any artworks before purchase?
Contact the artist to check if you can view the artwork, some artists may have work in a gallery or exhibition for you to see, or you can often view the art in their home or studio, viewings are by appointment
What happens if the art arrives damaged?
If you can see that the parcel is damaged sign as 'unchecked' if you can see that the art is damaged you should refuse the parcel and contact the artist
The art is packaged for safe transit but if the unlikely happens and your purchase arrives damaged please contact the artist asap for a full refund or an exchange, retain the original packaging so that the artist can make a claim with the courier, see buyer terms |
